On this card and the others I also used Stickles glitter glue for embellishment. Note that on the black cardstock or the white the different colors of the Pearl Ex just doesn’t show as different colors like I wanted it to. Still pretty but I would have liked to have seen more definition of the gorgeous Pearl Ex colors.
I have finally made a few of my own handmade cards as well as utilizing my Pearl Ex(Jaquard) pigments which I love! They are far from perfect but I like the way they turned out. I will post a few pictures, hopefully. The iridescence and colors just don’t show like it does in person. They are fun to turn back and forth under good lighting or the sun to see the iridescent change in colors! The first card picture I attempted stamping off the try to convey motion of one of the butterflies. I’m not really pleased with how it turned out but I still got quite a few compliments.
As I am new to blogging and don’t know what I’m doing, I have copied the following from operationwritehome.org.
It is my hope that anyone who can will check out this very worthwhile organization and show support either by making cards for our military heroes or by financial donation and if you do, Thank You in advance!
It’s very possible that a lot of folks think we’re closing our doors since it’s the year of the drawdown – but that couldn’t be less true.
1.The drawdown will be complete at the END of 2014. Not right now. Some folks are coming home early, but we’re receiving increased card requests; in some locations the PXs are not being restocked with items they don’t want to haul home.
2.During the drawdown, danger may actually be rising for many of our heroes. With fewer service members, they’re more vulnerable to attacks. Writing home is more important than ever, as are those messages of encouragement in our AnyHero letters. Don’t let them draw down alone!
3.OWH is going to continue supporting THOUSANDS of heroes who serve abroad all the time – we serve so much more than Afghanistan already, and we have no plans to stop.
4.We want to actually grow – and we know that many units who don’t now request cards will begin to do so once they feel they aren’t taking support away from their fellow service members in hotspots. So once the drawdown is over – watch for many new requests.
Let’s continue to show our heroes that we will NEVER give up on them. We won’t leave them high and dry as some might do, assuming they’re home before they’ve even packed up their duffel bags. Continue to make your best cards, follow the guidelines, and get your friends, families, and circles of influence to join in support of our nation’s heroes by writing letters and making financial donations to keep our support flowing out to those risking their lives for us.
